Auschwitz 1: Block 4

Block 4 features one of the oldest exhibits in Auschwitz I

?

Post-1989 deaths tolls, we were originally told by the book which first
announced to the world that 6,000,000 Jews were killed by the Germans,
that 2/3rds or 4,000,000 of those Jews, had been killed at Auschwitz.

Huge amount of hair on display, supposedly cut from the corpses of people killed
in the gas chamber. Apparently used to make mattresses, chairs and socks for Germans

Huge model, must be over 20 feet long, of Auschwitz II (Birkenau)'s
Krema II, undressing room (left), gas chamber (right).

On the ground floor of the building was the crematorium, with five ovens, each
with 5 muffles. On the first floor, was the sonderkommando sleeping quarters

In the foreground is the half-basement gas chamber, since proven to have been autopsy rooms
