Damien and Lewis confirmed what many say about Auschwitz: "Nothing lives. The silence is total. No birds or animals," - Wirral Globe, Jan 17, 2008
The Polish word for dog is pies, and anyone who misses the noise of local dogs barking whilst walking around Auschwitz-Birkenau, is either hard-of-hearing, they didn't walk around very far, or they're telling porkie pies — which is cockney rhyming slang for lies (cheap pun intended).
Due to Birkenau beening covered in snow when I was there,
I soon spotted animal tracks all over the place
Animal tracks crossing the "death train" tracks, even though I was told that even birds wouldn't fly over them |
Whilst I was walking through the water treatment plant between the section called Canada II and Krema III, I spotted three deer |
Then I managed to snap my favourite photo of my four days at Auschwitz |
Yes. nice photo!
